PVC windows and doors are known for requiring minimal maintenance. However, this does not mean that they should not be taken care of. Correct maintenance and use will ensure long-term enjoyment of your windows. Below we have prepared recommendations for proper cleaning of your SELECT joinery.

1. Remove lime and cement stains!

Avoid splashing lime and plaster on the profile, glazing and fittings. The profile and glazing may be damaged, and the fittings may be stuck with plaster residues.

2. Ventilate the room several times a day!

The incoming cold air reduces the relative humidity in the room and thus creates a healthy room climate. Ventilate the living space sufficiently, preferably several times a day, because relative humidity above 60% can lead to the formation of mold.

3. Do not use corrosive agents!

For simple cleaning of the frame surface, use a mild detergent solution. No caustics, nitro-thinners or gasoline! Special care products should be used for stubborn stains.

4. Clean the outside of the joinery regularly!

Clean the outside of the window regularly. Pollen or tar and iron particles can become baked on the window due to exposure to the sun. The hardened layer is difficult to remove.

5. We recommend greasing the fittings!

Lubricate the fittings at least once a year, so that unique ease of use is always guaranteed.

6. Fasten the window handles!

Loose window handles need to be fixed. The screws are visible by lifting the cover under the handle, rotating the cover from a vertical to a horizontal position.

7. Clean the seals and drainage holes!

The seals in the frame should be coated semi-annually with sealant, silicone oil (available over the counter), deer tallow, etc., to keep the seals soft and functional. Damaged seals must be replaced. Check the permeability of the openings in the profile frame at certain time intervals. Cleanliness is essential for proper water drainage.
